Meet Lloyd Evans, who joined Tropic as our System Operations Manager back in July of 2023. 👋

He manages some of our most important applications to keep our ship running smooth, becoming the ultimate swiss army knife for our go-to-market teams and processes. On his growth in Procurement Paradise?

Tropic has challenged me to move quickly and intentionally...I’ve grown to be more adaptable and resilient.

Learn more about what Black History Month means to Lloyd, his proudest feat at Tropic, and his life advice for others.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

It’s an acknowledgment of the struggles and accomplishments of African Americans throughout the history of this country. I like to think of Black History month as a reminder that the freedoms I enjoy today are the results of the labor of the people who came before me.

Why did you decide to join Tropic?

I was previously working for a SaaS company that was focused on creator management. A recruiter reached out to me at the right time, as I was looking for an opportunity that was a bit more concrete. I really resonated with the people I interviewed with throughout the process and I’m happy I made the switch. The team has been great.

What’s the day-to-day of your role like?

I oversee Tropic’s strategic go-to-market tools such as Salesforce, Dealhub, and Clari. I’m also responsible for the maintenance of middlewares such as Zapier. On a typical day I’m configuring automations, providing feedback upcoming configuration changes, and working with our operations team to ensure our data is accurate and the end-user experience runs smooth. ⚒️

How have you grown professionally in your role since joining Tropic?

It’s hard not to grow professionally with so much talent around you. We’ve navigated a ton of change and transition over the past seven months, and Tropic has challenged me to move quickly and intentionally. I feel like I’ve grown to be more adaptable and resilient.

What is a project that you’re most proud of working on?

Working with our Customer Success organization to migrate users out of Salesforce and into a Customer Success Platform is by far my proudest feat. We truly came together as a team and deployed a strategic system in a matter of weeks.

What's a fun fact people would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve been an avid snowboarder since I was 14 years old. Sean White was my favorite athlete growing up and I knew we would compete one day. 😉

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work you can catch at the gym. Motorcycles are also a passion of mine, so I’m always up for a ride. I also enjoy spending my free time cooking healthy meals, even hoping I can become a celebrity plant-based chef one day since snowboarding didn’t work out for me. 🌱

If you could choose 2 celebrities to be your parents, who would they be?

Denzel Washington and Tisha Campbell, easily.

What are three items you cannot live without?

Not sure why, but I seem to always go with a baseball cap, a watch, and an outwear jacket. I asked this question to my friends and those are the items they came up with for me.

What’s one thing on your bucket list in life and why?

I’ve yet to make it to Morocco–there’s something enchanting about it. When I take the trip, it will definitely be an affair. ✈️

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Lean into the uncomfortable more. It’s okay to not have the answers or even not know what you’re doing. But those areas of discomfort will also be your biggest areas of growth.
