How it began

While working at a hyper-growth startup, David Campbell and Justin Etkin were frustrated with the inefficiencies and inequities buyers faced when purchasing software. When establishing the purchasing function, Justin realized there was no CRM platform built for buying. When orchestrating seven-figure accounts on the sales side, David witnessed how buyers lacked the technology and pricing transparency when purchasing from large software vendors (who had plenty of tools and data). Later in his career, David also experienced the pain of a large enterprise reducing force to afford a software renewal. That was the last straw.

With David’s sales acumen and Justin’s operational expertise, they set out to build a platform that would level the playing field and help businesses protect their bottom line. Today, Tropic combines robust spend management capabilities and unbiased software supplier intelligence in one solution, giving buyers maximum leverage and unmatched confidence to drive savings and efficiency.
